Lost Wonder Hut

The Lost Wonder Hut is visited by various school groups that hike and ski into the hut throughout the year.  We're grateful for the service work these groups often do for us!  Over the summer, a group from Adventure Unlimited Ranches built and stained the picnic table that now lives next to the hut.

A few weekends ago, the Link School took a group of students up to the hut for similar service work.  These students stained the stair railings, built a new deck out front, and stacked six cords of wood - hopefully enough to get us all through the winter!  At the moment, the deck is just a platform.  Before too long, though, it will have a railing and benches so that visitors to the hut can enjoy sitting outside whether or not there's snow on the ground and a fire in the fire pit.

The Lost Wonder Hut got another gift this fall: a bigger dining room table!  Good friends and dedicated LWH fans Bobby and Natalie Lewis donated the table.  Anyone who has been up there with a full hut knows that the previous table was manageable, but not ideal for dinner (or Scrabble...).

By the way, the aspens have been beautiful this year.  There is one lone aspen visible from the hut, but the road heading up is bursting with them.  Here are a few photos from our weekend at the hut with the Link School.

In case you haven't seen already on our site or on Facebook, we're offering a fall special: 50% off reservations in October and November.  That's right - just $150 a night!

The hike up to the pass, as you see in the photo above, is just beautiful this time of year.  You won't want to miss it.

Welcome to the new Lost Wonder Hut blog.  Dave and I thought we'd use this space as a forum for sharing news about the hut, projects going on, and photos of the area throughout the year.

You may have noticed the new website... same good info, fresher look. :)  One new aspect is the electronic payment option, which hopefully will make reservation payments faster and smoother.  Of course, you can still choose to send checks, but think of all the money you'll save on envelopes and stamps.  Online waivers may be in the works, too.  More on that later.
